Environmental Compliance

Air: Sipi Metals is subject to standards of the Clean Air Act, a US environmental law designed in part to reduce toxic pollutants in air. Emissions from manufacturing operations are controlled by state-of-the-art technology including; dust collectors, cyclones, scrubbers, and afterburners.   Sipi Metals holds a Federally Enforceable State Operating Permit (FESOP) issued under Title V of the Clean Air Act.  (pdf file)
    
Waste: Federal: As a precious metals refiner Sipi is exempted from federal waste permitting and is subject to limited requirements of 40CFR 266.70.  (link).  
State: Sipi holds life-time operating permit from the State of Illinois EPA allowing for the treatment, storage, and transferring of regulated precious metal secondary materials. (pdf file)

USEPA ID:  In accordance with federal requirements Sipi submitted notice of waste activity and has been assigned the identification number: ILD005121439

Water: Sipi Metals processes do not discharge regulated wastewater and is not
subject to pretreatment standards.  

Storm Water:  Operations at Sipi Metals discharge to a combined storm water and sanitary system and is exempt from permitting requirements. The facility has implemented a water conservation system that captures and reuses more that 5 million gallons of rainwater annually.
