Refining

What distinguishes one precious metals refiner from another? In considering a firm to handle your recovery needs, you may be asking that question. In these pages, we'd like to tell you about SiPi Metals Corporation and suggest reasons why we should be your choice as a refiner.

Choosing a Precious Metals Refiner . . . The decision to choose a precious metals refiner should be weighed carefully. The efficient recovery of gold, silver, platinum, palladium and other precious metals can generate significant revenues. With this potential, making the right choice is critical. The factors we believe you should consider in choosing a refiner are:

- Stability and growth
- Financial strength
- Experience
- Environmental Compliance
- State-of-the-Art Technology
- Integrity
- Customized Services

We'd like to describe SiPi Metals' record in each of those areas:

Stability and Growth . . . SiPi Metals was founded in Chicago and celebrates 103 years in business in 2008.  For many years SiPi produced brass and bronze alloys. Precious metals refining began in 1969 and has grown to become a major focus of our activities. In our 175,000 square-foot plant in Chicago, precious metal-bearing materials are processed for over 500 customers worldwide. They include electronics, mining, chemical and photographic companies, in addition to U.S. Government Agencies. SiPi Metals has prospered through periods of world conflict, depression, recessions, and volatile metal markets. Because of this record of stability and risk management our customers can be confident that we will meet all commitments.

Financial Strength . . . On behalf of customers, precious metals refiners process and safeguard millions of dollars of materials. Refiners must provide security, as well as prompt payment and delivery of metals. To meet those responsibilities, SiPi Metals maintains strict financial controls and a solid capital base. We have an excellent credit rating and long-term banking relationships. Additionally, we have extensive experience in international metal markets. Hence, a variety of risk management, pricing and payment programs are available. Our financial statements are audited by a leading national accounting and auditing firm.  Certified statements are available for review upon request.

Experience . . . As in any business, experience counts in metals refining. It counts because of the dynamic nature of the business, new types of raw materials, changing metals markets, and challenging problems. There's rarely a situation or a type of scrap that we have not encountered. So we can analyze and respond knowledgeably to problems, no matter how difficult or complex. We also conduct extensive research and development programs to anticipate future needs and devise new ways of processing materials. This experience and research capability can be applied in many ways: in analyzing materials . . . in counseling on selling or hedging strategies . . . and in providing new methods to process unique materials. Most importantly to customers, our knowledge of the business means we can effectively respond to their requirements.

Environmental Compliance . . . SiPi Metals is highly sensitive to the effect our activities have on the environment. We consistently exceed all governmental regulations and strive to identify possible environmental problems well in advance of their occurrence. To ensure environmental soundness, all of our processes and equipment meet exacting standards. Plant output is monitored constantly and controlled for strict compliance. Our equipment is given the highest ratings by the Environmental Protection Agency. Inspected regularly, our operations are fully licensed by local, state and Federal authorities. Annually, over 30 environmental audits are conducted successfully by our customers and governmental authorities. In accordance with our philosophy, we will continue to conduct our business in a manner consistent with a clean environment.

State-of-the-Art Technology . . . To ensure accuracy of samples and keep abreast of new processing techniques, we have designed, built and purchased state-of-the-art equipment. Virtually all accepted methods for analysis are employed at SiPi, including atomic absorption and inductively coupled plasma spectrometry, and classic fire-assay and wet chemical determination. Processing methods cover a broad spectrum of mechanical, pyro- and hydro-metallurgical techniques. Our specialized equipment allows us to apply meticulous recovery procedures to both small and large lots of material. Consistency and fairness is achieved with highly-automated equipment in all phases of processing, from sampling to final refining. Recently installed pyrolitic equipment places SiPi at the forefront of thermal reduction technology. Our advanced technology and equipment, backed by an experienced staff and ISO9000:2001 certification, assures efficiency and accuracy in all phases of material handling and processing.

Integrity . . . Customer relationships in the precious metals business are built on trust and trust is created by openness and candor. As a matter of policy, SiPi provides customers the opportunity to verify and inspect all aspects of our activities. A computerized system tracks materials from the moment they arrive until processing is completed. At any time in the processing cycle, customers can receive up-to-date progress reports. Additionally, they can inspect work sheets, witness processing and submit samples to independent labs for analysis. Our well-equipped laboratory and accurate sampling methods are the primary means to ensure fairness. As a further assurance, independent laboratories constantly verify our analytical work. In every respect, our procedures are designed for maximum access by customers and their representatives.

Customized Services . . . Some businesses say, in effect, "This is how it's done; the customer must do it our way." We do things differently. We find out what the customer needs - and we do it their way. There's no "standard way" of serving customers at SiPi Metals. The single standard is to provide consistently responsive service, tailored to customer needs. Specifically, that can range from designing reports to accommodate a customer's office systems, to providing metals handling and market consultation, or devising creative financing solutions. Our primary goal is to make certain that our services meet a customer's precise needs.

We hope this website presents a useful introduction to our services at SiPi Metals Corporation. However, it's only a start. We'd like to speak with you further about the tremendous potential of scrap material - and how we can help your company gain maximum revenue from the efficient recovery and refining of precious metals.
